Can you introduce yourself as the Organizer?

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led organization, established in 1948 and currently present in 114 countries and territories. We strive to achieve Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential by developing the leadership potential of youth through our volunteering abroad opportunities (Global Volunteer), professional opportunities for working abroad (Global Talent and Global Teacher) and membership opportunities. AIESEC Sri Lanka, established in 1995, has been creating a positive impact through cross-cultural exchange centered leadership development to drive this country for the betterment of youth in the future. Thinkwave is the first-ever open ideathon for school students and university undergraduates organized by AIESEC in University of Moratuwa, one of the leading entities of AIESEC Sri Lanka.

 

What’s the idea behind this Hackathon?

Our organization aims to develop young leaders who would take the lead in changing the world for the better and create a positive impact on society. In line with our objectives, we initiated the ideathon Thinkwave to create a platform for youth to demonstrate and develop their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial enthusiasm with the insight of industry specialists, while developing their leadership and entrepreneurship skills.

 

Could you describe the theme this Hackathon is based on?

Thinkwave is based on demonstrating and developing creative and innovative business solutions in a vast range of fields such as healthcare, e-commerce, e-learning, logistics, tourism and travel, entertainment and gaming, agriculture and manufacturing, networking and information security, social media, social service and environmental conservation and sustainability. This hackathon aims to focus on entrepreneurship as well how these innovative business solutions can pave the way to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

 

What makes this Hackathon stand out from the rest?

Participants of Thinkwave will not end up just pitching their business solutions, but will also be exposed to a wide range of benefits.
